Family Front Porch Mini Sessions!

These are strange times we are living in.  I know as a mom of 3 young boys the idea of staying home wasn't an option we entertained often.  We were constantly on the move between sporting activities, scouting or school functions.  When the Shelter in Place rules came down it forced us to just stop.  Stop moving, stop running, stop putting off things that we should have done but never had time for.  In these last 8 weeks, it's been interesting.  It's been fun, it's been trying, and it's been downright challenging.  Day by day we are getting through it and learning new things about one another that we may not have had time to before.  It's in this time I find myself wanting to document it all.  I thought you all might want to document it too!

I'm offering front porch mini sessions.  They will be 10 minutes long, you will receive 3-5 digital images and cost $75.  These are sessions are whatever you want to make of them.  They can be sweet, they can be silly, they should just be about your family as a unit and what you want to remember during this time.

This beautiful weather we are having makes me want to be outside and take all the photos! This season I'm offering Mama and Me Mini Session photos.  I know what it's like to be a mom and always be on the other side of the camera.  You are raising these beautiful creatures and it's so important that you get in the picture and prove you were there too!  Take the morning to get your hair done, dress up and document this moment in your life with your children.

The locations will be disclosed upon booking. Saturday 4/4/20 will be in San Jose, and Sunday 4/5/20 will be in Palo Alto.  These Mini Sessions are $195 and run for 20 minutes.  They include 5 high resolution digital images, a private online viewing gallery, and a print release form.  Additional high resolution images and print products will be available for sale as well.  These sessions include up to 5 family members, (Mama's and kids only).  

Sessions and times are limited so sign up now! A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your session.  You can pay via Venmo to @AlisonDonahue. You will have 24 hours to pay the deposit in order to reserve your slot. The remaining payment is due at the time of your session.  I will confirm your reservation through email.

Family Photo Session - San Francisco

This was one of my favorite photo sessions.  We met up near their house and walked to the beach.  I absolutely loved documenting an afternoon in their lives.  They brought a bench and were determined to get a "walking on water" shot.  We all ended up soaking wet, but laughing the entire time.  I know it created some magical memories for their kids.

This family was ahead of the curve and got their photos done in June.  It was perfect! They have four boys and I love all of the boy energy, it reminds me of my kids.  I knew we needed a place we could be out and about exploring and capturing memories.

Each year I love seeing these kids grow up just a little more.  We started when the baby was literally a 2 month old baby and now he's 3!  Time flies.  We did two shoots with this family as K wasn't feeling great during our first go round.  All in all we got some fun photos.

The last time this family asked for photos, I was very pregnant with my now 2 year old and just couldn't do it.  This time I was excited to be able get out and capture them.  They win the award for the most patient family, because on the day we took these photos it was over 100 degrees.  They had on their Fall jackets but were sweating big time.  You wouldn't know it by looking at them right?!? Thanks for a fun adventure Q family!

I love watching these boys grow every year.  Their sessions always remind me of chasing after my three boys.  They are full of action and adventure!

I've been horrible about keeping this blog up to date, but I wanted to share a fun session with you all that I did awhile back.  I love this family.  I photographed them a few years ago and was so excited to meet up with them again.  They had a lovely ranch location for us to shoot at which made it all the more fun.

My baby sister got married

2016 was a really big year for our family.  We were busy.  A highlight of the year was my baby sister getting married!  She had a small church wedding the day before her big outdoor wedding where I acted as the unofficial photographer.

My baby turns 1

Anyone who knows me knows I love to throw a good party.  Give me a theme and I'm off.  I was excited to do a "Wild One" party all in black and white and yellow.  Especially since he's the 3rd boy, I was ready for something different.  I really got into it and we were ready to go.  The Friday before the birthday day I picked up his cake, put the finishing touches on the party and headed out to pick up the older boys at school.  That was when I saw a few spots on his feet.  Wouldn't you know it, the day before his party he came down with Hand Foot and Mouth.  I was so sad.  We had to cancel having anyone come who had kids, but I appreciate the adult family members who came and enjoyed the fully planned party.  It turned out great anyway and he really enjoyed being the center of attention and just playing.  It makes for a good story anyway.  And on a positive note, he really got into the cake.
